Karin Aggestam is a Professor of Political Science and an Excellent Teaching Practitioner (ETP) at Lund University. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Monash University and an Honorary Professor at the University of Queensland, Australia. Previously, she served as Director of the Centre for Advanced Middle Eastern Studies and as Scientific Coordinator of the Strategic Research Area on the Middle East. She held the Samuel Pufendorf Chair from 2016 to 2020 and was the founding Director of Peace and Conflict Studies at the Department of Political Science, Lund University, from 2006 to 2015. She has also been a Senior Associate Member at St Antony’s College, Oxford University. She has published 11 books and numerous articles in international peer-reviewed journals and leading international Handbooks on Foreign Policy Analysis (OUP, 2024); Peaceful Change in International Relations (OUP, 2024); Middle East Security (Routledge, 2019), Women, Peace, Security (OUP, 2019); Environmental Conflict and Peacebuilding (Routledge, 2018); Diplomacy (Sage, 2016); Conflict Resolution (Sage, 2009) and others. Karin Aggestam has served on the recruitment board for the Swedish Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Program and was a member of the International Panel on Social Progress (IPSP). On assignment by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, she has served as Head of Staff and Senior Swedish National Representative in the international observer mission in Hebron.
